Kent Barthman, (Winemaker) native to Eureka, California, brings decades of experience with both Bordeaux and Burgundian varietals in premium labels, including nine years as winemaker for Rutherford Hill, four years at Taft Street, six years at Carey Cellars, and Assistant Winemaker for Far Niente. Today, Kent continues to be in demand for international wine consulting. In his early years of winemaking, Kent sought out and received mentoring from Andre Tchelistcheff, the “Dean of American Winemakers.” Kent has had the honor of working with some truly great people in the wine world and some fantastic places in Napa and Sonoma Counties over many years and seen just about every winemaking style. Kent says about winemaking that what it “all comes down to is the right vineyard on the right site, the passion to make the best wine possible, and the wisdom to let the grapes speak for themselves”. Kent was attracted to partnering with Ken and Melissa because they have superior hillside vineyards with great fruit concentration, they work the vineyards themselves or have long-standing relationships with family growers, and, working with Ken & Melissa, Kent has the opportunity to make some of the definitive wines of his career.
